About the role

The purpose of the Project Management Director is to build and lead a team of Project Managers to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects in the Kansas City region and strengthen relationships with current clients as well as new ones. The ideal candidate will have strong business development skills, a good knowledge of the Kansas City Market, and lead a team of project management employees.

What you’ll do

  • Provide formal supervision to employees, monitor, train, and develop the staff, and conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

  • Develop new business growth and maintain existing business relationships.

  • Serve as a change agent for business improvements and develop support for new initiatives and processes.

  • Build, communicate, and monitor the vision, mission, strategy, objectives, business plan, budget, policies, and operating plans for the assigned area.

  • Conduct and maintain relationships with industry and trade associations, vendors, and professional organizations.

  • Lead by example to earn the respect and trust of peers, employees, and clients. Support others by providing honest, open, two-way communication.

  • Implement strategies and programs that meet company goals and objectives.

  • Prepare short- and long-range financial plans, priorities, objectives, and the annual budget. Responsible for meeting the financial goals and expense management for assigned areas.

  • Responsible for new business development, including identification of opportunities, client solicitation, proposal development, and presentation.

  • Build strong business operations and evaluate industry and business trends in the local market area for potential impact on operations.

  • Interact regularly with clients to ensure that objectives are being met and anticipate the client’s needs.

  • Supervise the planning, budgeting, and control of operating and capital expenditures. Coordinates and approves the calculation of all special billings.

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of direct and matrix reports.

  • Approve subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination.

  • Monitor appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) preferred, or a combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of comprehensive experience in commercial real estate project management.

  • Familiarity with the Kansas City Market and pre-existing client relationships in both Kansas and Missouri preferred.

  • Experience in leading a diverse workforce including project management, operations, sales, and finance.

  • A solid understanding of the real estate industry in the areas of financial analysis, project management, construction, ethical practices, business operations, marketing, and business development.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
