Job Description Summary:

The Psychologist position serves students and residents through the provision of individual, couples, and group psychological counseling, outreach presentations, consultation, supervision of doctoral practicum students, psychological assessments, and crisis response. In addition, the Psychologist supports the strategic initiatives of our department and the Office of Academic and Student Affairs to help all students and residents succeed. In discharging these duties, the Psychologist is expected to be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio economic status, et. and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students and residents with widely varying backgrounds. The position engages with a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, a licensed clinical social worker, learning specialists, a writing specialist, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals to facilitate successful treatment outcomes. The position contributes to the University\'s strategic plan and reports to the Associate Director of Counseling and Educational Support Services.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education/Licensure:

  • Doctorate in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology
  • Licensed eligible as a Psychologist in Kansas & Missouri

Work Experience:

  • Two years of post-licensed experience
  • Experience providing brief therapy to individuals, couples, and groups
  • Experience in clinical and crisis management, including working with high acuity students and residents with complex mental health need
  • Experience designing and implementing outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and consultation.
  • Strong communication as evidence by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • PSYPACT credentialed
  • Doctorate completed at APA-accredited program

Work Experience:

  • Predoctoral Internship at an APA accredited internship site
  • Two or more years of experience in a university counseling center
  • Experience providing counseling to health science students
  • Competence providing therapy in bilingual or multilingual contexts
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision.
  • Clinical and research experience with multicultural issues.
  • Experience developing, leading, and implementing strategic programming initiatives to help students and medical residents succeed.

Job Duties Outlined
