Job Description Summary:

Opportunity to work as part of clinical and translational research team working to improve patient-outcomes from cancer treatment with diet and physical activity. Additional projects include physical assessments, medical nutrition therapy, coaching, and exercise programming. Involvement in clinical cancer studies.

Conducts specified laboratory experiments/tests, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques; Accomplishes necessary preparations to include equipment, organizing patient visits, instrumentation set-up, specimen preparation, etc.

Job Duties outlined:

  • Interact with research participants.
  • Scientific writing and presentations.
  • Data collection, entry, and verification.
  • Engage in all project meetings and deliver public presentations in relation to the research.
  • Individuals and job duties include contributing ideas for future research studies and publications, and to develop these into grant.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in basic science, nursing or equivalent. A combination of education and related work experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) is required.

Work Experience:

  • Experience with working with computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and good organizational/time management.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master\'s degree with a major in nutrition, clinical nutrition, exercise physiology, or equivalent discipline, and one year of relevant laboratory or science experience.

Work experience:

  • Demonstrate ability to conduct research and to work in a group setting.
  • Working knowledge of physical assessments, exercise testing, and nutrition counseling.
  • Experience with engaging in research and produce written research outputs, as set out in the research proposal, and as agreed with the Principal Investigators.
  • Experience with prior funding and publications.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated; and organized with excellent time-management skills.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
