AMR operates recycling facilities in Kansas and Missouri. Our processing capabilities include an automobile shredder, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers, and extensive transportation services. AMR is looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic candidate to fill our Scale Operator position in our Cheyenne yard, in Kansas City, KS. Responsibilities include:

  • Weighing, processing and calculating payment for all purchased material

  • Communicate pricing information and material specifications to customers

  • Obtains required information from customers for all transactions, completes required purchasing and shipping documents, and conducts daily reconciliation of transactions

  • Reviews all documents to ensure regulatory and Company requirements are met

  • Cross train to assist with inspection of materials

  • Inspect materials for non-acceptable items (i.e. propane tanks, PCP's, batteries, flammable liquids, non-metallic items, etc.)

  • Assist and direct customers to proper location to unload materials

  • Ensure that non-acceptable materials are not left on Company property


  • 2 years of cash handling and direct customer service experience in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic math and account reconciliation skills, with a strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work with others as a team

  • Proficient with a computer and data entry skills

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
