Job Description Summary:
The Senior Grant Manager is part of the Integrated Administrative Support Core (IASC) that supports faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in the Schools of Medicine-KC, SOM-WI, and Health Professions (periodically assisting the School of Nursing ORG and Internal Medicine IMRO when needed). This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Research and has a high level of responsibility and decision-making.
Job Description:
The Sr. Grant Manager will work with the Assistant Dean for Research and IASC staff in collecting, processing, and analyzing the award data for necessary reports. Develop workflow/interactive systems to streamline the receipt, review, and processing of grant proposals/applications/contracts. Identify processes for greater efficiency and assist in redefining procedures for timely responses to proposals while adhering to a high level of regulatory compliance.
Provides supervision and training to entry level grant managers team on grant assembly and processing grant submissions, in particular S10 equipment applications and non-NIH grants (KDHE, AHA, ADA, etc.), VA IPA\'s, including interpretation of governing regulations including Uniform Guidance, sponsoring agency policies, and KUMC/KUMCRI policies.
Provides guidance and ongoing training to the team on operational issues and interpretation of governing regulations including Uniform Guidance, sponsoring agency policies, and KUMC/KUMCRI policies.
As Senior Grant Manager will facilitate training to IASC supported units on mySponsoredprojects (MSP) workflow and adherence to new submission deadlines.
Collaborates closely with staff in the University of Kansas Research Institute (KUMCRI) Sponsored Programs Office and Sponsored Contracts to engage them in new grant submissions ensuring compliance with applicable funding regulations; and collaborates closely with other KUMCRI divisions (Sponsored Post-Award, Clinical Research Administration, HSC, IACUC, Enterprise Analytics, School of Medicine Finance for verification of information needed on grant proposals (both university and clinical salaries), approved human subjects and animal protocols, for post-submission materials, progress reports and grant close-out.
Effectively and professionally interface with faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and department administrators regarding issues relating to budgets, reporting, and interpretation of the funding agency rules and regulations.
Maintains working knowledge of external and internal grant policies and procedures including the current Electronic System-to-System (S2S) submission portal MSP, and the Huron Research Suites (HRS) system, Employee Compensation Compliance (ECC) effort reporting system, and keeps abreast of current funding opportunities, policy changes, grant form updates.
Collaborates closely with faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows submitting a grant and/or contract to federal and non-federal organizations (NIH, NSF, DOD, AHA, VA, etc.), internal applications, transferring an application or subaward to or from an institution, submitting no-cost extensions, cost-share memos, preparation of annual progress reports, Just-In-Time submission materials, Other Support, and final grant close-out report. This includes interpreting and researching grant fun ing opportunity announcements (FOA) to determine eligibility, appropriate funding mechanism (research, career development, research training/fellowships, center grants etc.), type of application (new, renewal, revision, resubmission, extension, continuation, transfer grant, change of grantee or training institution), as well as any specific submission requirements for each, application due date, and requirements enforced for an application (is a letter of intent required, if the individual is a new investigator or from a foreign institution, or prior approval necessary).
Gathers pertinent information that is needed to compile the grant, preparation and organization of information and documents including institutional resources and environment, biosketch for all key personnel, institutional letters of support, extensive data gathering for training grant tables (institutional, applicant, current and past trainees, publications, etc.), inputting information into the appropriate grant submission portal.
Plan and edit complex grant documents including reporting requirements. Preparation, formatting, proofreading and construction of tables, figures, and other graphics necessary for research grant proposals; reviewing sponsored project proposals for completeness of all required documents and compliance. Confirms faculty, graduate stude
