Shipping Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping Coordinator to join our team. This hands-on position is crucial in ensuring the efficient, effective, and accurate in-and-out control of materials in support of customer orders. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and work as part of the materials management team to support shipments both domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities
Pull product from warehouse using Pick Tickets or verbal instructions to support shipments.
Package product using a variety of methods (box, pallet, crate, etc.) ensuring safe and damage-free shipment.
Generate Bills of Lading.
Verify outgoing material counts and shipping addresses against pack lists, Bills of Lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Tag or label outbound products and affix shipping labels on packed products ensuring proper information.
Determine the proper method of shipment using instructions, knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Contact shipping companies to route domestic and international shipments.
Prepare all required documentation for domestic and international shipments.
Maintain shipping log and track shipments.
Verify counts, weights, or measures of incoming and outgoing materials.
Generate and handle freight claims as directed.
Operate manual pallet jacks and motorized fork trucks in a confined space and in a safe manner.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean shipping area.
Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
Safely unload products from incoming trucks and trailers.
Multi-task to handle numerous orders at the same time.
Essential Skills
Previous experience in a shipping/warehouse position.
Experience with international shipments is a plus.
Safe operation of manual and powered lift trucks.
Adequate mobility to continually walk and stand, pull orders from various shelf heights, and lift products up to 70 pounds.
Ability to clearly read and understand English.
Responsible, dependable, and organized.
Multi-tasking to handle various orders at the same time.
Highly efficient and professional with computer and Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook.
Familiarity and efficiency with ERP programs, with Microsoft Dynamics GP being highly preferred.
Active and effective listening and verbal communication skills.
Critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify solutions and approaches to problems.
Effective time management.
Ability to maintain attendance and punctuality.
Ability to function in a fast-paced, customer-driven engineering and manufacturing environment.
Being a team player is absolutely mandatory, but equally effective when working independently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with data entry and inventory management.
Knowledge of shipping labels, pick tickets, and packing methods.
Experience with SAP and ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with shipping systems.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, Kansas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
