Dairy Farmers of America Sr. Feed Ingredient Sales Specialist in Kansas City, Kansas
Job Description
Support and execute contracts for sales of commodities to DFA members in specified areas. Coordinate network of outside sales staff and commodities team to achieve sales goals and create member value. Possess in-depth knowledge in commodity sales and demonstrate high-level skills. Function as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Market commodities to DFA members in accordance with individual and team margin and sales goals
Identify and explore new vendor opportunities
Negotiate purchases with vendors
Call current and potential members to share promotional offers and garner additional sales opportunities
Schedule and order shipments to members based on their orders
Build relationships with members by performing on-farm visits
Communicate with vendors daily to build relationships and obtain current information
Provide members and staff with guidance and direction on commodities markets

Requirements
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in agriculture business, marketing, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
5 to 8 years of commodity trading or related experience that includes vendor negotiation responsibilities
Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and company computer systems
Strong knowledge of commodity transportation and logistics
Strong knowledge of risk management tools
Strong knowledge of dairy production methods and procedures
Skill in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and statistical evaluations
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to multi-task and problem solve, including issues or situations of a complex nature
Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
Able to take initiative in performing job and seek increased responsibilities
Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
Able to elicit cooperation from variety of sources, including upper management, plant locations, and others
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Travel: 15% - 25% (1 - 2 times per year)
