Role & Responsibility
As the Sr. Life Underwriting Technology Consultant, you will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex underwriting technology projects and initiatives for Lincoln’s Life Solutions Underwriting & New Business area. You will also advise and collaborate with business stakeholders to define and validate complex underwriting technology solutions that meet the needs, goals, and objectives for Individual Life Underwriting & New Business.
Maintains knowledge on emerging technology and collaborates with leadership to incorporate emerging technology into current or future solutions
Develops complex underwriting technical solution requirements
Using structured requirements process, clearly articulates, documents, and validates complex underwriting technical requirements
Advises and provides expertise to appropriate internal stakeholders to assess and deliver proposed complex underwriting technical solutions which meet business requirements and/or which integrate process, business rules and business data with technology
Provides direction and collaborates effectively with appropriate stakeholders on complex issues and conflicts that impact time, cost, scope, quality and risk of assigned projects
Determines and advises the most appropriate technical response to identified complex problems, issues and/or defects by assessing impact and prioritization
Provides complex technical research and analysis to support business/underwriting operations needs and presents findings to management or project leader
Determines complex underwriting best practices and suggests how to improve current practices
Provides a complex understanding of the business usage of information technology (IT) and helping underwriting technology add value to the business
Serves as a mentor and shares knowledge with more junior team members
Directs and/or participates in the planning/estimating of projects
Delivers training on technical changes and new innovative processes implemented for underwriting technology platforms
Provides subject matter expertise on all automation initiatives, process improvements, and innovations within the underwriting organization
Represents Office of the Chief as business owner of the automated rules engine; participates in updating underwriting rules as needed/required
Participates in vendor review and change processes in collaboration with vendor management teams
Owns underwriting system changes requiring BWRs, prioritization, and training for underwriters
Develops and delivers presentations to internal stakeholders
Education & Experience
4 Year Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience
FALU Designation preferred
5 – 7+ Years of experience of Individual Life Underwriting
3 – 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis preferred - that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
1+ years of experience in automated underwriting technology (writing rules and updating automated rules engine)
Experience with leading major underwriting initiative and demonstrated leadership experience
A track record of driving change and process improvement
Project management experience preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Experience with mentoring / delivering training of process workflows and system changes
Demonstrated record of consistently meeting or exceeding performance goals and expectations
