Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
The role of Vice President, ACL & Capital Analytics Oversight is responsible for Risk oversight of the analytical tools and overlays used in the ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning and Stress Testing processes. Specifically, this role will focus on evaluating Non Model Tools ('NMT's) and any modeling overlays used in these areas. The role reports to the VP, Capital and ACL Oversight.

Essential Responsibilities:
Provide effective challenge of all modeling overlays used for ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning and Stress Testing using documentation and rationale provided by the 1st Line of Defense
Evaluate differences between primary and benchmark modeling outputs and configurations in support of modeling overlay considerations
Provide effective challenge of Non-Model Tools ('NMT's) used in the ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning and Stress Testing processes and evaluate for reasonability, accuracy and governance controls in accordance with the Synchrony NMT Standards
Review methodology for determining historic mean values used in calculating ACL as well as the approach for mean reversion
Evaluate applicability and usage of multiple macroeconomic scenarios
Present findings at the ACL Working Group, ACL Committee, or the Operational Risk Committee (for NMTs) where appropriate
Drive the Enterprise Risk Assessment ('ERA') and Risk Aggregation quarterly processes for ACL/LF and Capital
Execute disciplined Issues Management process by ensuring that ACL/LF and Capital risk issues are reported and escalated if necessary, and action plans executed according to Synchrony Financial procedures
Review ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning and Stress Testing provided RCSAs, RAQs and PRCs and independently assess accuracy and completeness of risks and controls
Review and propose update of the ACL and Capital Risk Oversight procedures at least annually
Collaborate with other cross risk pillars leads on thematic issues or emerging risks
Provide mentorship and development to junior members of the team or other risk colleagues
Support regulatory meetings, examinations and internal audits of the ACL and Capital oversight processes
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Risk or Accounting related field (Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Math/Stat, Operations Research, etc.) and 6+ years of relevant Risk, ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning, Stress Testing or portfolio analytics experience; OR 10+ years of experience in financial services or related field.
3+ years of people management experience within financial services, consulting or audit.
Desired Characteristics:
MBA or certification preferred(FRM, CFA, CPA, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge and influence
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently in fast paced environment
Previous experience in independent oversight role
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to foster relationships and build informal networks without compromising independence
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines
Demonstrated experience analyzing business data with the ability to distill large amounts of information down to the critical areas of focus
Ability to create and deliver business presentations and communicate effectively
Grade/Level: 13
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
