Synchrony VP, Business Development Marketing in Kansas City, Kansas

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Business Development Marketing will represent the marketing and growth organization in assigned platforms in all aspects of the business development process. Working collaboratively with the business development, pricing, technology, credit, and growth organizations, this individual will develop and implement strategies and tactics to achieve Synchrony new business growth metrics as well try to win and launch new deals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead marketing efforts from RFP development, ideation, value prop recommendations, and portfolio growth drivers for all assigned platforms' new prospects in pipeline.

  • Partner with client teams to renew existing partnerships

  • Lead and develop team of marketing professionals.

  • Partner closely with platform CMOs and platform BD leader. Interact at senior levels of Synchrony and prospect organizations.

  • Develop ground up marketing plan for prospect, including projected growth metrics and marketing funding.

  • Understand and incorporate the prospect's key business objectives, strategic vision, and marketing calendar into the sales process to achieve set objectives.

  • Cross functionally lead the management presentation process including demo development, research, video production, PowerPoint presentation, and creative execution.

  • Evolve Synchrony's storytelling in the business development process to align with roadmap capabilities and next gen growth

  • Align with Consumer Engagement and Brand teams to integrate business cases, branding, insights, digital CX, and ACE initiatives into deal discussions and materials

  • Upon notification of program win, lead initial marketing program launch activities until the program client team is hired and in place.

  • Serve as platform marketing SME in prospect working sessions to address prospects' marketing and growth questions

  • Present and represent Synchrony in management presentation process on occasion

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degre; OR in lieu of degree, a minimum of 11 years of Business Development or Marketing experience in the financial services industry

  • 8+ years of Client Marketing or Business Development Marketing experience in the financial services industry

  • 5+ years of experience to include:

  • Experience with marketing, organizational, and decision-making responsibilities

  • Understanding of business development processes

  • Cross functional team leadership experience

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA).

  • Experience with PLCC and co-brand products

  • Outstanding communications and relationship building skills with ability to influence up to internal and external C-Suite

  • Strong cross-functional aptitude across finance, tech, credit, marketing, and growth organizations to speak holistically about Synchrony's differentiators

  • Strategic thinking with ability to develop and implement actionable plans to drive business results.

  • Consumer finance experience and related industry experience. Familiarity with value proposition and/or new product development processes, from concept innovation through go-to-market execution.

  • Direct marketing experience with both acquisition and loyalty/lifecycle channels.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to evaluate situations using multiple sources of information.

  • Demonstrated growth marketing leadership skills (analytic and creative) with significant exposure to consumer facing programs/products.

  • Outstanding presentation skills - written and oral.

  • Exceptional project and time management skills as this role is extremely deadline driven.

  • Positive energy with resilience to work through ambiguity and deal losses

  • Experience managing organizations and other professionals with a minimum of 3 years of managerial responsibility.

  • Collaborative style and approach with comfort working in a matrixed, decentralized structure.

  • Strong PC proficiency (MS Office Suite) or comparable software applications.

Grade/Level: 14

The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
