Within the Surgical Structural Heart business unit, Edwards has an exciting opportunity for a Scientific Communications professional with publication experience to join a team that is focused on transforming patients' lives.

This role can be based at Edwards’ corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA, or can be remote-based in the U.S.

The Manager, Scientific Communications leads the design and implementation of scientific communication activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of publication plans which add to the level of clinical evidence in support of established and planned product indications

  • Interpret clinical study results and collaborate with Health-Care Providers (e.g., study investigators, physicians) in the development of scientific communications content, such as conference proceedings (e.g., abstracts and presentations) and journal manuscripts.

  • Collaborate with the biostatistics team and physicians to identify the most appropriate analyses necessary for effective communication of clinical study data

  • Proactively identify, assess, and summarize relevant scientific and medical literature across a given therapeutic area

  • Establish and manage a repository of scientific communications content (e.g., publications, presentations)

  • Review and disseminate conference coverage from major relevant cardiothoracic surgery conferences

  • Conduct literature reviews to address internal and external medical information requests

  • Create scientific summaries (e.g. slide decks) and present key clinical study data to diverse groups of cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., marketing, strategy, R&D, Quality, GHER) while providing appropriate context within the surgical landscape

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8years of related experience working in clinical, research, or healthcare industry OR

  • Master's degree or equivalent and 6 years of related experience working in clinical, research, or healthcare industry OR

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of related experience working in clinical, research, or healthcare industry

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to meeting minimum requirements, it would be preferred to have the following:

  • Advanced degree preferred (e.g., PhD, PharmD, Master’s)

  • Experienced in the development of scientific/medical conference proceedings and manuscript publication in major scientific journals

  • Cardiology therapeutic area or cardiovascular medical device experience

  • Proven successful project management skills

  • Clinical and scientific acumen, for use in various circumstances, including in working with internal stakeholders and with physicians in identifying evidence gaps and opportunities

  • Knowledge of AdvaMed, EUcomed, FDA and ISO regulations

Additional Skills and General Expectations:

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills

  • Advanced interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment

  • Extensive knowledge of own area within the organization while contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards

  • Proven expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and related systems

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and guide stakeholders

  • Strict attention to detail

  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization

  • Represents leadership on sections of projects within a specific area while interfacing with project managers and the medical-clinical affairs team

  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.

For Colorado, the base pay range for this position is $132,000 to $154,000 (highly experienced).

For New York City, the base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $166,000 (highly experienced).

The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
