The Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager reports to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for managing and automating existing accounting processes to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting. This position will be responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and integrating the company’s accounting programs and systems to support the continued growth and success of Alpha Baking Company.
Areas of focus include accounting process automation, developing best practices and accounting policies, compliance reporting, implementing new accounting technologies where needed and leading and mentoring accounting staff members.
Refine and oversee existing accounting processes with the goal of utilizing automation to streamline and strengthen existing tasks.
Monitors and ensures Alpha Baking’s compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Coordinate completion of all local, state and federal governmental reporting requirements.
In Coordination with Alpha’s Information Technology department, guide the design, implementation and testing of accounting technologies to achieve improvements in established goals.
Coordinate with Corporate Controller on cash management and help to establish new tools to monitor, predict, and optimize cash flow.
General ledger account reconciliations as a part of normal close procedures, both oversight and execution.
Assists with all corporate audits.
Payment and tracking of all real estate, personal property, sales and use tax filings.
Assists in the training and mentorship of other accounting staff.
Performs other duties as required.

Required qualifications, skills and experience:
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, and an advanced degree in relevant disciplines or CPA is preferred.
5-10 years of related work experience
A strong attention to detail, project management and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of enterprise level accounting reporting systems.
Advanced excel skills (look up functions, sumif, sumifs, index match, choose, etc.), Microsoft Access and Power BI experience a huge plus.
Experience in automating accounting/finance processes through advanced excel formulas, Power BI, or other tools.
