Research – 40% - Development and maintenance of an active, externally funded research program in pharmacology as described below.

Teaching – 40% - Preparation and presentation of lectures and other teaching approaches in graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

Service – 20% - Participate in service activities at the level of the Department, School, University and profession.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants for the position of assistant professor:

  1. Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline, such as Pharmacology or Toxicology, Neuroscience, Immunology, Physiology, Biochemistry, or Cell and/or Molecular Biology.

  2. Three years post-doctoral experience in pharmacology, toxicology, cell and molecular biology or a closely related field.

  3. Research expertise in using a systems-based approach to understand mechanisms of disease and drug action, in order to advance disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease or other neurological or neuropsychiatric disorder.

  4. Outstanding potential for obtaining external funding for their research with translational impact.

  5. Excellent track record of publishing research findings in nationally and internationally recognized journals.

  6. Ability to teach broad aspects of general pharmacology and toxicology in the context of a professional Pharm. D. program.

  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Applicants for the position of associate professor.

The above requirements plus the following:

  1. Outstanding track record of obtaining external funding for their research with translational impact.

  2. Outstanding track record of publishing research findings in nationally and internationally recognized journals.

  3. Excellent record of teaching.

  4. Ability to conduct or contribute to interdisciplinary research projects and a record of collaborative interactions with scientists in other fields.

Position Overview:

The University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy invites applications for an open-rank faculty position at the assistant or associate levels in Pharmacology and Toxicology. The successful candidate must hold a PhD, MD, or DVM degree with research expertise in using a systems-based approach to understand mechanisms of disease and drug action, in order to advance disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease or other neurological or neuropsychiatric disorders. The position will require teaching graduate and pharmacy students, establishing an active externally funded research program and providing services at the department, school, and university levels.
