Job Description:

50% - Conduct research pertinent to funded projects. Maintain, design, build, and operate radar hardware focusing on RF hardware development, antenna structures, power supplies, and system integration. Such activities include computer aided design and simulation, hardware layout, and debugging.

10% - Participate and support field deployment activities including system installation, radar operation, hardware debugging, and data processing.

10% - Service: Interact with public, government, and industry, participate in professional scientific organizations, serve on committees of scientific organizations, and review manuscripts for journals or other publishers, critically review scientific proposals for funding agencies.

15% - Disseminate research in the form of publications in peer-reviewed, scientific and scholarly journals of high standing in the specific research field; by presentations at international, national, regional and state meetings; and publishing in professional journals and books. This varies with authorship and can mean entire publication/presentation if sole/primary author, to contributing specific sections of publications/presentations with secondary authorship. Supervision of student authored papers as necessary.

15% - Generate and submit proposals to generate external funding support.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in EE or related field.

  2. Five years of postdoctoral work

  3. Proven experience in computer aided design tools relevant to RF hardware design, as evidenced in application materials.

  4. Recent publications in referred journals, book chapters, or other outlets, as evidenced in application materials.

  5. Five or more years of experience with microwave, radio frequency, or high-speed digital system printed board design and layout.

Position Overview:

The Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS) at the University of Kansas seeks Associate Researcher Senior to work with faculty, staff, and students to perform research on airborne sensor systems for science applications in the cryosphere. The person in this position will be responsible for collaborating with engineering faculty, staff and students to develop and integrate airborne sensors and other sensor technologies for remote sensing applications. This person will also contribute to the design and implementation of new and unique microwave, radio frequency, and other prototype hardware systems.
