Job Description:

75% - CCTV Installation and Maintenance:

  • Install, maintain, and repair CCTV systems, including cameras, DVRs, monitors, and associated cabling and hardware.

  • Assist in site surveys, as requested, to determine optimal camera placement and ensure coverage of critical areas for surveillance.

  • In coordination with Functional Systems Analyst Sr., assist in configuring CCTV systems for recording, including setting up motion detection and scheduling recording times.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with CCTV systems, identifying hardware faults and software glitches.

  • Maintain existing CCTV systems including annual inspections of existing system hardware.

  • Upgrade CCTV systems by integrating new technologies, enhancing system capabilities, and expanding coverage areas.

  • Follow security assessment provided to install, maintain and modify CCTV systems and equipment. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance and avoid hazardous and unreliable systems.

  • Works from schematic, diagrams, job specifications, or blueprints. Does demolition/selective demolition as required for assigned projects.

  • Maintains and installs CCTV system and infrastructure using standard CCTV construction methods. Trims out installations. Uses a variety of hand tools and power tools such as hammer, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, saws, etc.

  • Tests continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components, using test equipment such as ohmmeter, ammeter and phase meter, etc. Observes functioning of equipment /systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

25% - Lockshop Support and additional access duties.

  • Work may include repairing, replacing, or adjusting malfunctioning locksets and/or keys. Performs related joinery/carpentry tasks such as re-aligning doors, jambs, or drawers as necessary to complete repairs or effect new or replacement installation, ensuring proper lock operation and safety.

  • Performing emergency entry on lockouts due to lost keys or malfunctioning or vandalized/damaged locksets or doors.

  • Installs locks and/or changes out locks on new construction and renovation projects, including any mortising required on doors or jambs to accept locks as well as masonry repairs required to complete installation on older or vintage construction.

  • Work from blueprints to identify proper room numbers to cross reference with proper keying.

  • In addition to assisting the Lockshop, this position would also support the access control team by assisting in card reader installations, assembling scope of work documents, equipment procurement, coordinating projects, and overall access control maintenance.

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or completion of G.E.D. equivalency and three (3) years of experience as a CCTV Technician.

  2. Certificate of completion from a vocational school or an Associate's degree in related trade area may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

  3. One (1) year experience with CCTV theory and practice, National Electrical Code, and National Building Code.

  4. Work experience that involved reading, interpreting, and working from sketches, blueprints, job specifications, and schematics.

  5. Applied knowledge of laws, regulations, safety standards, and procedures pertaining to electrical construction as evidenced in work history.

Position Overview:

Work involves performance of highly skilled CCTV work in the maintenance of existing systems and construction of new CCTV systems and infrastructure. Assignments received are through KU work management system and will be maintenance tickets, annual system maintenance and new installations that may be in the form of KU CCTV assessments and layouts, rough sketches, or blueprints. Latitude is allowed in determination of work methods and completion of work. Reviews work done by on-call CCTV contractors for compliance with pre-set specification and quality.
