  • Partners with SPS and KUEC program teams and staff and other KU recruitment staff to develop and implement a multi-channel communication/contact plan designed to systematically and strategically attract students to our graduate programs and move them through enrollment.

  • Works with SPS and KUEC administration and program teams to develop systems, strategies, and structures that facilitate and support the achievement of new student enrollment goals for graduate degree programs offered through SPS and KUEC.

  • Develops strong relationships with employers in the Kansas City metro area, establishes and maintains contact with individuals in the human resources or training areas to raise awareness of the SPS and KUEC graduate programs, and works to strengthen enrollment through a variety of mechanisms and recruitment channels.

  • Creates partnerships with university administrators and SPS and KUEC program leadership and academic staff to ensure a collaborative working relationship.

  • Develops relationships with prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment.

  • Plans and executes on- and off-campus recruitment events with School recruiters designed to enhance conversion and yield rates.

  • Tracks and monitors individual student funnel stages and overall funnel performance in order to inform and adjust recruitment strategies and tactics in response to funnel performance.

  • Acts as liaison for related professional organizations in the KC area.

20% Other Duties

  • Market Analysis and Development: Obtains information about KC industry interest in existing and new programs and refers to relevant colleagues in Academic Program Development and Continuing Education.

  • Provides regular reports outlining recruitment efforts and outcomes.

  • Participates in relevant university meetings related to student recruitment and industry outreach for the university.

  • Provides support to SPS and KUEC administrative staff for executing campus recruitment events. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean – Center for Faculty and Academic Administration at the KU Edwards Campus.

  6. Experience with strategic student recruitment from inquiry through application including ability to build inquiry pool.

Program Overview:

The University of Kansas (KU) through the School of Professional Studies (SPS) and the KU Edwards Campus (KUEC), which is located in Overland Park, Kansas, in the Kansas City Metropolitan area, is seeking a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Graduate Recruiter. KUEC has been a KU presence in Kansas City for 30 years, playing a crucial role in the Greater KC professional community. The campus now offers an extensive portfolio of undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates with classes geared toward working professionals, available in the evening, online and in-person.

The KU School of Professional Studies (SPS) was created in 2019 with a vision to transform students’ lives and improve communities through innovative, student-focused, and exemplary academic programs that lead to rewarding careers in various fields that serve Kansas's workforce needs and beyond. The school offers a variety of disciplines, course formats, class schedules, student services, aid, and more to meet the needs of students who may work full-time, have considerable commitments outside of the classroom, have prior college-level education or otherwise need a different approach to earning academic credentials. SPS continues to launch new degree programs to support future students' needs and is poised for significant growth over the next five years.

Position Overview:

The Graduate Recruiter, as part of the Edwards Campus Center for Faculty and Academic Administration team, performs recruitment activities to achieve enrollment goals (primarily for Graduate programs, but also on a more limited basis for related Undergraduate programs) for SPS and KUEC and to support the overall enrollment and outreach goals of the university. This new position will primarily focus on promoting graduate degrees and certificates and other training opportunities available from SPS and KUEC for working professionals in relevant industries in the KC metro area.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, and the ability to communicate about specialized topics in disciplines related to our graduate degree programs (see the list of graduate programs here (https://edwardscampus.ku.edu/academic-programs#section5443) ). This position reports to the Associate Dean – Center for Faculty and Academic Administration. The position will require local travel, as well as flexible hours to include evenings and weekends. This position serves the education needs of a Johnson County Education Research Triangle (JCERT) program. Specific percentages of effort for JCERT are determined each year. Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the time of appointment.
