The Image Processor Operator position reports through the Colorvure department in the Lawrence Production Center. Individuals in this department convert information into film that will be used as “press ready” printing plates.

This position is on 1st shift Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm

The Image Processor Operator in Lawrence operates a direct-to-plate image setting system that involves accessing digital artwork files, placing the images on appropriate templates and converting this information into film which will be used as “press ready” printing plates.

The incumbent accesses digital artwork files through Hallmark’s network, DCL and/or disks. Operates, maintains, and makes necessary adjustments to the MacIntosh computer, its hard drive and data vault. Operates and maintains necessary adjustments to the imager and processor. Maintains own inventory of supplies (processor, chemistry, film printer, paper, etc.) Executes quality system during preflight. Completes regular maintenance and cleaning, including TPM’s. Properly handles and disposes of hazardous material according to procedure.

Positively participates in performance dialogues and other team problem-solving activities. Identifies potential problems, and shows willingness to proactively work on problem resolution and alternative solutions to traditional methods of operation. Flexibility is key as the incumbent will be expected to learn and perform multiple assignments within this job classification.

In this position you will:

  • Access digital artwork files through Hallmark’s network, DCL and/or disks.

  • Operate, maintain and make necessary adjustments to the MacIntosh computer, its hard drive and data vault.

  • Operate, maintain and make necessary adjustments to the imager and processor.

  • Execute the Quality system including preflight.

  • Complete regular maintenance and cleaning, including TPM’s

  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous material according to procedure

  • Maintain own inventory of supplies (processor, chemistry, film printer, paper, etc.)

  • Demonstrate the flexibility and teamwork to positively influence how goals are accomplished within the shorter periods of time.

  • Utilize good safety practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Minimum of one year’s experience with pre-manufacturing or manufacturing card processes. Experience must be in one of the following areas: machine layout, foil stamp, diecut, emboss and/or printing.

  • One year experience in using Mac or personal computer

  • One year knowledge in using prepress files for card processes—such as Quark, Illustrator, Freehand, etc.

  • Must be able to pass a 2010 version of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint testing as part of the interview process (only passing scores in Skill Check will be considered). Must have Microsoft Office 2010 scores on file (passing scores on previous versions of Excel and Word will not be considered.)

  • Must be able to pass a typing test of 30 wpm as part of the interview process (only passing scores in Skill Check will be considered).

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist motion and fine motor skills 95% of the time

  • Ability to perform job in a seated position approximately 90% of the time

  • Ability to walk and bend as required

Upon selection to interview, you will be contacted by a Recruiting Assistant to schedule your testing. Tests must be completed and passed prior to interview. Internal candidates with test scores on file dated April 16, 2018 or before MUST retake all Microsoft and typing tests once selected for an interview.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year experience working with Orbiter or Prodo

  • One year experience in software packages Preps, In Design and Acrobat Professional, used in desktop publishing prepress operations to prepare imposed offset printing and manufacturing files.

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with multiple customers in a high pace environment

  • Ability to work in a structured environment but flexible in work style

  • Ability to understand and follow established safety procedures

  • Ability to accept other duties as assigned

  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge

  • Ability to work in a team environment and be able to contribute positively during problem solving sessions

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Work overtime as required during peak seasons

  • This is a climate-controlled environment with normal physical injury hazard associated with an office environment.

  • There is some noise and hearing protection is required by Hallmark when not in the office.

  • This position is located in Lawrence, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.
