Required Qualifications:
Candidates will be evaluated on their research experience and communication skills, as evidenced by: (i) CV and cover letter, (ii) 2-page research statement, (iii) prior research publications and/or patent applications, (iv) names of three referees, and (v) interview by videoconference.
A recent Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Engineering, or closely related field by the date of appointment.
Excellent record of scholarly accomplishments, including publications and technical presentations in energy storage or related subjects.
Demonstrated communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills.
NOTE: To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have the Ph.D. conferred at the time of hire. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an interim basis not to exceed 6-months. Upon verification of degree, the appointment will be extended to its full duration.

Position Overview:
The School of Engineering at the University of Kansas invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research position in advanced energy storage systems, with special emphasis on the intersections of energy storage with cyber-physical systems, scientific machine learning, digital twins, smart grid, power electronics, and other emerging directions.
This hiring is part of KU’s School of Engineering (SoE) initiative to promote diverse interdisciplinary collaborations across multiple departments. The selected postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to work with faculty members from the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. They are expected to explore and push the frontiers of future energy storage systems, while driving related research activities at KU SoE.
The preferred start date is August 15, 2023, with the exact date negotiable. This is a 1-year appointment with possible reappointment based on performance and funding availability. Discretionary funds and relocation expenses up to specific amounts will be provided.
