Alamo Group Inc. Install Technician in Leavenworth, Kansas
Under direct supervision, modifies vehicles, trucks, and other transportation equipment according to dealer and/or owner specifications, and "upfits" vehicles with completed Alamo Group product or products. May involve routine to moderately complex metal fabrication, welding, and assembly techniques using knowledge gained from experience. Follows manufacturer's specifications, recommendations, schematics and blueprints.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Assures installation work is performed to the specifications and the rate(s) daily.
Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Performs and documents "check in" and "check out" inspections of fleet equipment.
Tests all OEM operating functions of the working body of the truck and/or heavy machinery.
May troubleshoot and diagnose any deviations from expected functionality.
Maintains records of installations and repair work to track activities ensuring work is documented and on file.
Transport trucks for fueling, tank wash and may wash and clean trucks as needed prior to shipment.
Maintain a clean and respectable facility, equipment and work environment.
Maintain and organize shop and storage areas. Ensuring proper storage of flammable items.
Operate all company owned equipment and vehicles in a safe, lawful, and respectful manner.
Aware of and follows all safety standards and requirements.
May be assigned additional responsibilities as necessary to support the manufacturing operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
General understanding of the function, operation and maintenance of truck mounted equipment to assist customers.
Proficient understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, blue prints and/or schematics.
Ability to effectively use a multi-meter.
Advanced computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Demonstrated computer skills to use company business systems to complete work orders and service records.
Able to perform basic measurements using tape measure, protractor and other measuring devices.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Able to proficiently read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions.
Excellent organization and the ability to effectively multi-task.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
Self-motivated, shows complete accountability, is timely in all assignments.
Demonstrated welding skillset or weld certification.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed to facilitate service and repair activities in the field.
Ability to work overtime and/or including weekends and evenings as production schedules dictate.
Education and Experience:
High School education or GED preferred.
Minimum 1 year, verifiable experience as an Industrial Truck Mechanic and/or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
Class A CDL with air brake endorsement required or the ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
Previous MIG weld experience on mild steel and stainless steel preferred or the capability to be weld certified within six (6) months of hire.

Work performed in a non-climate-controlled metal manufacturing production environment, with frequent standing, twisting, bending, stooping, and climbing in and around metal fabricated parts. Frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of 40 pounds alone and 100> pounds with assistance. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify required parts and operate production assembly equipment (i.e. hand tools, power tools, hand truck, etc.).
