Job Summary? ? ? ?

n

We are searching for a Software Engineering Development Manager in our Ascend Learning Technology organization.? The Software Engineer will have responsibility for overseeing the developing, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software applications in a for-profit organization utilizing multiple technologies.? This is a full-time position in our Leawood, KS office.

n

A Development Manager in the Ascend Learning Technology organization will be expected to function and lead in a DevOps culture.? This includes working on an agile software development team includes full accountability for the team?s output.? The development manager facilitates the engineering team?s activities, removes impediments, and provides leadership from a technical and professional development perspective.? This individual will partner with other leaders in the organization to coordinate and prioritize backlog for a product, as well as ensure that the agile/SAFe processes are used properly by the team.? The development manager will directly manage software engineers, platform analysts and scrum masters on the engineering team(s).

?Responsibilities

n


+ Ensure the engineering teams are operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.

n

+ Participate in Agile Release Train Synchronization meetings

n

+ Lead preparations for Program Increment planning events.

n

+ Handle day-to-day management responsibilities for direct reports.

n

+ Assist/lead team?s iteration planning, retrospectives and demos.

n

+ Coordinate and lead release deployments across a cross functional team.

n

+ Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with business and technical staff in on-site and virtual environments.

n

+ Develop a culture of continuous improvement amongst team members and peers.

n

+ Guidance over the team?s agile journey and maturation.

n

+ Strategize how team will achieve DevOps elite status.

n


Required Skills

n


+ 8-10 years technical experience, including 1-2 years of project management experience, and 1-2 years of people management experience.

n

+ Strong team player with problem-solving skills.

n

+ Experience with process management and process change implementation.

n

+ Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

n

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.?

n

+ Able to communicate technical information to non-technical users.

n

+ Must be able to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches.

n

+ Must be able to lead a team to self-organ zation.

Education and Experience

n


+ Bachelor?s degree in computer-related field, or equivalent work experience.

n

+ Certified Scrum Master / Iteration Lead or equivalent work experience.

n
