Insight Global Sr Database Disaster Recovery Engineer in Leawood, Kansas
Job Description
Review overall DR Strategy, raise concerns as necessary and validate that data environment can be recovered successfully given the constraints and requirements of the DR project.
Research database recovery options / costs / architecture for on-prem and Azure cloud based databases and develop roadmap for recovery for each of the application databases.
Work with vendors and team on developing various tiered recovery plans based on RPO/RTO, disaster type, application priority and database technology (SQL on-prem, Cloud databases, Synapse).
Work with vendors and team on data recovery synchronization across databases / file systems vs RPO requirements to help ensure successful operational systems after recovery. Document data loss expectations and likely recovery tasks where data gaps may exist.
Work with hosting team on getting all database server VMs imaged for DR recovery (with or without data / log and tempdb drives).
Fully document and automate as possible DR recovery steps (and build steps if possible) for each application database.
Work with vendors and team on testing DR recovery processes and fail back procedures.

Skills and Requirements
Senior level architectural experience with database services.
Deep understanding of SQL database recovery options (Always On, Distributed Always On, Log Shipping, replication, etc).
Good background in Azure cloud database technologies (Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, Synapse) and potential backup and recovery options.
Scripting experience with Bicep and Powershell Azure Synapse Administration & Architectural Experience. null
