What will you do?

Become a key member of the Microbiology Division’s Contract Management Team, where you will be a part of a key team providing a wide range of support for the North America clinical lab sales and commercial teams while partnering with finance, customer service, regulatory agencies, legal and Thermo Fisher Corporate Accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports sales opportunities of varying complexity via public solicitation or direct procurement

  • Collaborates with sales representatives to understand their objectives and produce accurate and timely proposals in response to external customers’ requests for proposals and contracts; communicates closely with internal subject matter experts to ensure adherence to company policies and processes to meet critical timelines.

  • Performs varying levels of project management, with a focus on details and risk mitigation, directing the bid or contract workflow process from initial receipt to final submission, including reviewing proposals, conducting due diligence reviews, and staging bid submissions or contracts for final submission.

  • Help drafts and negotiates sales agreements for microbiology products and/or services.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to sales representatives and commercial leadership; provides risk assessment, interpretation of contractual obligations, and advice regarding terms and conditions.

  • Drives the negotiation process, both internally and with the customer, to get to mutually acceptable contractual terms and conditions, while maintaining accountability for the outcome of negotiations from customer acceptance of the proposal to the final contract’s execution.

  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task. The person in this role should be able to Cross train on a variety of different contracting job functionalities and demonstrate flexibility in ever changing work environment. Easily adaptable to changing work environment based on business needs.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Education

Degree or certification in business, contracts or legal specialization (or equivalent work experience)

Experience

Legal drafting and negotiations as a bids/proposal specialist, contracts specialist or legal role.

  • Knowledge of research/diagnostic/medical products and life sciences preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrates proficiency in compiling and analyzing sales, commercial and legal information.

  • Knowledgeable in governmental agreements and quotes/bids, RFQ and RFP.

  • Detail oriented and able to manage and perform on multiple bids and contracts at the same time.

  • Familiarity and comfort with complex contract language; understanding of the business implications of various contract terms.

  • Shows good judgment in balancing business and commercial needs and potential risks/exposures with customer requirements.

  • Recognizes when to advance issues and concerns on bids and contracts to divisional leaders, executive leadership, or other decision-makers.

  • Successfully performs duties independently with minimal instruction given on new projects or assignments.

  • Displays ability to remain focused on meeting completion timelines work while under pressure, work independently and as part of a team.

  • Exhibits strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Team player with a supportive attitude that wants to be part of a supportive team and environment.
