JOB SUMMARY

The FEHSS Leader is responsible for executing, auditing, and reporting of EHS programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate policies and building an engaged Health & Safety culture for the Patient Direct business (covering both Apria Healthcare & Byram Healthcare). Reporting to VP of Distribution and Delivery Operations of Apria, the FEHSS Leader is the subject matter expert for environmental facilities management, occupational health & safety including Sustainability initiatives.

Location: To be in one of the 6 ADCs - Atlanta GA, Indianapolis IN, Riverside CA, Woodlands, CA, Boothwyn, PA, or Lenexa, KS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with management to execute, implement & improve EHSS programs according to company policies for facilities (branches & distribution centers), ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state rules and regulations.

  • Promoting safe work practices and a safety-conscious culture aimed at prevention and mitigation of injuries, illnesses, violence, and other health and safety hazards in the workplace, and compliance with OSHA and related health and safety laws and regulations.

  • Leads and/or participates in regular inspections and facilities audits to identify potential environmental health and safety hazards, discrepancies to company EHS policies, regulatory standards, and national codes. Develop solutions to issues and ensure compliance.

  • Leads Sustainability and ESG reporting and improvement initiatives for the enterprise including but not limited to fleet, facilities, and impact spending.

  • Develop reporting capability for facilities waste & energy management. Analyzes for opportunities.

  • Promoting awareness of the Company’s safety programs through training, education, awareness messaging, safety alerts and providing guidance to supervisors and teammates.

  • Participates in facilities' project reviews to provide EHSS expertise.

  • Advises facilities’ safety committees to develop, implement effective engagement and strong safety culture.

  • Organizes, facilitates and/or participates in investigations of incidents/accidents, complaints, or problems (injury, near misses, indoor air quality, etc.); recommending changes to current procedures and/or controls to prevent property loss and/or injury.

  • Training, educating, and promoting ergonomic work practices; coordinating ergonomic assessments when needed; and identifying and ordering ergonomic tools and equipment.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Required Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • Education or experience equivalent to a four-year college degree is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing occupational safety and environmental compliance.

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or30-Hour OSHA General Industryor obtainable within first six months of employment

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (CFR 29 1910 General Industry).

  • Candidates must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Computer Skills

  • Computer savvy with: Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook & Teams

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret and develop spreadsheet data.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching above the shoulder. This position also may require the occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs.

Compensation

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.

  • Annual compensation is based on a 40 hour week.
