Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pharmacists monitor and verify all prescription orders upon creation and dispensing

  • Dispense factor products, related supplies, and other products related to bleeding disorders following state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures

  • Perform drug and supply ordering when needed

  • Review medication orders and evaluate appropriateness and completeness of orders with consideration given to the special needs and behaviors of the specific age group served

  • Verify all prescriptions and provide oversight of the safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provided to members/patients as it relates to products dispensed

  • Assess the patient at the initiation of drug therapy, develop a patient care plan and drug monitoring regimen, and monitor the patient according to the care plan throughout the course of therapy

  • Interpret provider prescription and create order, access, input and retrieve prescription and medical/lab information from computer system, verify whether order/drug is reimbursable and covered

  • Contact members/patients to validate data, resolve rejected claims, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details, consult on medication issues, and set up treatment in on-site facilities

  • Prep and scan documents, verify member/patient data, submit prescription orders in computer systems

  • Communicate with the patient, physician, nursing staff, other pharmacists, and other members of the health care team regarding patient status, response to therapy, and clinical objectives to ensure clinical outcomes are met with the ability to fill orders accurately and in a timely manner

  • Ensure compliance with State Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory standards; Follows all department policies and procedures

  • Provide indirect oversight of pharmacy technician and pharmacy support staff

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree and current, unrestricted, Pharmacist license in home state

  • 2+ years of experience working as a licensed Pharmacist

  • Solid drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge with various related therapies and the ability to work through the complexity of therapy related orders

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule (8-hour shifts between hours of 7am-7pm CST weekdays) and rotate being on call based on business needs

  • Proven solid phone and customer service skills

Preferred Qualification:

  • Hemophilia & Bleeding Disorder/Factor experience

The hourly range for this role is $43.17 to $84.95 per hour based on full-time employment.. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
