CommunityAmerica Credit Union Insurance Sales Representative in Lenexa, Kansas

The Insurance Sales Representative is a service-centric position that is responsible for selling insurance products to members as well as providing information and service support to both internal and external constituents regarding member insurance and loan protection products. Provides support to other departments within the credit union and delivers consistent performance standards and manages priorities that are responsive to sales production, member relationship (retention) and service goals.

  • Develops base for long-term sources of clients by using credit union relationships to compile lists of prospects.

  • Approaches potential clients by utilizing mailings, email, and phone solicitation.

  • Determines clients' particular needs and financial situations by scheduling fact-finding appointments; determining extent of present coverage and investments; ascertaining long-term goals.

  • Acts as primary staff and member contact in addressing questions and concerns regarding retail insurance products, coverage’s/exclusions policy information.

  • Develops a coordinated protection plan by calculating and quoting rates for immediate coverage action and long-term strategy implementation.

  • Obtains underwriting approval by completing application for coverage.

  • Completes coverage by delivering policy; planning future follow-up visits and evaluations of needs.

  • Provides continuing service by providing direct deposit forms; processing changes in beneficiary and policy loan applications.

  • Acts as secondary staff and member contact in addressing questions and concerns regarding retail insurance products, coverage’s/exclusions policy information.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Enhances insurance agency reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Process claims for insurance product portfolio and provide claims service to internal and external constituents.

  • Provides information necessary to make sound product recommendations (i.e., marketing, customer service and administrative support affecting members/brokers/vendors from initial submission through policy issuance, renewals and cancellations).

  • Provides support within established performance standards and priorities that are responsive to sales production, member relationship (retention) and service goals.

  • Ensures all related support activities are delivered in a manner consistent with a high level of customer service.

  • Works with other departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to members.

  • Works in concert with Sales Producers (FSS), Collectors, Underwriting staff and external vendors to ensure retention of quality business and complete claims as necessary to submit to claims underwriting .

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of entire credit union protection portfolio in order to portray confidence and credibility to internal and external constituents.

  • Acts as both the internal and external point-of-contact in addressing questions and concerns regarding retail insurance products, coverage’s/exclusions policy information, benefit and claim information.

  • Produces product reporting and remittance - including but not limited to: maintenance of files and claims, process financial and non-financial requests, receivables, product account reconciliation and journal entries.

  • Communicates product results to President, Insurance Services.

  • Provides information and coordinates activity with various departments to ensure quality service and timely reporting.

  • Promotes honest and open communication throughout the credit union/CUSO.

  • Demonstrates behaviors that are consistent with the credit union/CUSO values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Licensed Agent – Property, Casualty, Life, and Health. Missouri and Kansas preferred.

  • Two (2) years of insurance sales and service experience

  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.

  • Financial institution experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge and application of sales techniques, including claims processing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Access) and ability to navigate through various operating systems and learn new systems quickly.

  • Good organization and planning skills.

  • Ability to self-initiate and work independently without close supervision.

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to project a high degree of professionalism and positive image of themselves and the Credit Union/CUSO.

  • Must be detail oriented with ability to maintain and organize workloads.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.

  • Must be able to be bonded.
