SUMMARY

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all functions relating to inside sales activities. Targeted products include Light Commercial Unitary 3-25 tons, replacement/service parts and supplies, and small packaged heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment for use on commercial applications. The incumbent will follow established procedures and guidelines to promote and support selling the organizations products and services within an assigned geographic area, product range, or list of customer accounts. The incumbent will utilize their advanced knowledge of company products and programs to provide a high level of customer service. Assesses customer needs and suggests appropriate products and services in response to customer inquiries

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sales Related Duties:

  • Functions as inside sales representative and liaison between customers and the Commercial District Sales Office.

  • Possesses expert knowledge of the Trane and Ingersoll Rand product lines to be able to demonstrate and discuss with sales teams and customers other business/cross selling opportunities.

  • Facilitates introductions of key customer contacts to other Trane sales teams for specific opportunity development.

  • May be required to represent Trane at Outside/Inside Sales team customer visits – Customer sessions to better understand customer needs, process and promote LCU marketing package.

  • Develop good working relationships with existing customers.

  • Works closely with sales representatives or as a junior member of a sales team to support meeting established revenue targets.

  • Develop sales skills and knowledge of the organizations products, services, and customers

  • Conducts post-sale follow-up calls with the customer in coordination with sales and service engineer as appropriate.

  • May pursue sales leads by proactively calling targeted customers to drive sales at the branch/location

  • Increases sales to existing accounts by working closely with assigned Account Managers in Service, Contracting and Equipment as well as internal fulfillment teams.

  • May establish systematic customer contact to provide on-going information.

  • May be responsible for putting sales packages together (bundled solutions).

Inside Sales Duties:

  • Expected duties to begin will be most similar to a Project Manager.

  • Maintains records of sales, customer information, and requests by updating data to customer data electronic files.

  • Administrative type duties are required: Issue PO’s, manage budgets, close out projects.

  • Maintain the LCUR data log information to support continuous improvement efforts.

  • Assist Financial Services with credit applications, approvals, and collections.

  • Expected to be cross trained on all quoting, ordering, order fulfillment, and order closing responsibilities.

  • Develops quotes based on identified customer needs.

  • Assesses customer requests and assists with customers problems, expediting orders as needed.

  • Responsible for all pricing and proposals using Job Center, LYNX and TOPSS programs.

  • Responsible for ordering and expediting using FOE and PeopleSoft Projects.

Peer Leader and Continuous Improvement Duties:

  • Must be able to follow, create, and train other employees on documented quality standard work.

  • Will participate in continuous improvement, daily management, and problem solving activities, including leading MDI and leading small teams through 9 steps.

  • May manage process improvement projects including topics such as inventory decisions, warehousing strategies, system enhancements, etc.

  • Communication with District and Commercial business leadership may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and/or 2-4 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Selling, project management or construction/HVAC experience preferred.

  • Experience in Ingersoll Rand company products and programs preferred.

  • Experience with customer selling and high level of customer service to inbound customer calls.

  • Degree in engineering, business, or technology preferred.

  • Knowledge of Lynx, CRM, PeopleSoft and TOPSS systems preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
