Deluxe Lean Engineering Internship in Lenexa, Kansas

Deluxe, a trusted payments and data company, is excited to offer (1) summer paid internship in the Kansas City area to an undergraduate student seeking a challenging, meaningful, and supportive experience with our Fulfillment Team. You will be introduced to Lean Manufacturing Principles, Data Gathering / Analysis and Production flow Optimization. In addition, professional development opportunities.

Our Manufacturing Teams, within Fulfillment, will provide you with valuable learning opportunities as you engage, collaborate and learn with others throughout the organization to maximize your experience. The experience will include:

  • Assist and support the team in managing various day to day activities

  • Gain an understanding of overall:

  • Lean Manufacturing Principles

  • Plan Do Check Act, 5 S, Total Preventative Maintenance and other lean tools

  • Data Gathering / Analysis

  • Tracking and analyzing daily production to provide awareness and insights on areas of opportunity to improve.

  • Production Flow Optimization

  • Working within production to roll out changes, measure the outcomes and provide recommendations to further improve

  • Learning Lean Principles though performing on going daily activities.

  • Learning to manage multiple activities simultaneously and prioritizing tasks based on customer requirements.

  • Professional development through peer counseling, mentorship, and corporate leadership interactions.

Program Overview:

  • 10-week paid assignment.

  • In person orientation on Day 1,

  • including a tour of both KC locations

  • overview of the company and internship program

  • welcome message from senior leaders.

  • Professional development from dedicated project owners and management team.

  • Day to day activities engaging interns in the business with expected outcomes.

  • Interaction with leaders across multiple business units and departments.

  • Resume review and LinkedIn clinic.

Who are we looking for:

Required Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science – Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)

  • Some technology-centric coursework completed

  • Some previous work history within any business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated individual who is focused and results oriented

  • Inquisitive and curious

  • Microsoft Office skills, including MS Word and Excel

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Actively enrolled Junior going into Senior Year
