The Order Entry/Customer Service Pharmacy Technician is responsible for order entry and triage. This role involves picking up incoming calls and directing them appropriately, communicating with LTC facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians, and taking in drug orders via faxes and other forms. The technician will also answer medication-related questions, triage documents, and decide whether it makes sense to place an order by reviewing patient profiles. They will highlight pertinent information on forms using a computer and send it to order entry for processing. The technician will handle approximately 15-30 calls per day, call on all new admissions to LTC facilities, and resolve order issues by understanding the Automatic Dispensing Unit. During order entry, they will enter medication orders at a rate of about 40-45 per hour.
Responsibilities
Pick up and direct incoming calls appropriately.
SIG code knowledge and usage
Communicate with LTC facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.
Take in drug orders via faxes and other forms.
Answer medication-related questions.
Triage documents by reviewing patient profiles and deciding on order placement.
Highlight pertinent information on forms via computer and send to order entry.
Handle approximately 15-30 calls per day.
Call on all new admissions to LTC facilities.
Resolve order issues by understanding the Automatic Dispensing Unit.
Enter medication orders at a rate of about 40-45 per hour.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with SIG codes.
Registered Pharmacy Technician with the state of KS.
Strong customer service skills.
Data entry proficiency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with customer service at Target, Walgreens, CVS, or Cub Foods.
Knowledge of pharmacy operations.
Work Environment
You will work in an office environment that is quiet and production-based. This repetitive role involves working in a closed-door setting with educated individuals, having your own cubicle, and a predictable schedule.
2 Openings
Part-time, up to 24 hours per week, with flexible hours on Monday night shifts (preferably 3pm-11:30pm) and requires work at least 3 weekends per month on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am - 5:30pm.
Full time position: Full time 3pm-11:30pm M-F
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
