Thermo Fisher Scientific Production Associate (Days A) in Lenexa, Kansas

Shift Hours : Day Shift 6AM - 6PM

Our team in Lenexa, KS is at the heart of the global response to COVID-19. Given the significant demand for COVID-19 testing, Thermo Fisher is expanding our capacity in Lenexa with a new $40 million facility dedicated to viral transport media (VTM) for COVID-19 sample collection. We are hiring more than 300 new team members to join us in this effort.

What will you do?

You'll help support our commitment to increase production of 12M VTM tubes a week for the testing and diagnosis of COVID-19 in our communities and around the world by preparing the raw materials and producing our VTM tubes.

  • You'll be mixing and batch cooking raw materials into a fluid that goes inside the tubes

  • You'll work in a specially designed suite, filling the tubes with the fluid using a state-of-the-art dispensing system

  • You'll have an eye for quality, testing out the finished products and diligently following standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • You'll work safely and efficiently with your own personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • You'll partner closely with team members to achieve important goals

How will you get here?

  • You'll have a High School diploma or equivalent

  • You'll have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment; aseptic experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical environment preferred

  • You'll be a critical thinker, extremely detail oriented and confident in making quick decisions

  • You'll communicate well, both verbally and written in English, and be comfortable performing basic math

  • You'll enjoy learning while being flexible and adaptable in a changing environment

  • You'll have a strong sense of accountability and a safety mindset

  • You'll enjoy working with others and making a positive impact

  • You'll enjoy learning about and working with machines

  • You'll be able to push/pull up to 600lb kettles, be comfortable standing for long periods of time (around 10 hours a day) and be able to see and distinguish colors
