Job Title: Project Engineer - Quality Control Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Manager to oversee and enforce project site quality control for a multi-year, $500 million overhaul of a major facility. The ideal candidate will utilize their discretion to assess and control risk, perform tests, analyze results, and develop processes to maintain quality standards. This position is a 9-month contract-to-hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction projects from start to finish, focusing on quality control.

  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish desired standards of care for each definable feature of work.

  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project conform with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use.

  • Conduct required meetings with clients, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors before starting each new phase of the work, and document these meetings in the daily QC report.

  • Review plans, specifications, construction cost data, and other contract documents to identify potential quality risk factors.

  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications.

  • Perform specified or required tests to ensure control measures are adequate to provide a product that conforms to contract requirements.

  • Oversee work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.

  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and maintain the project 'as-built' drawings daily.

  • Develop, update, and maintain the project submittal log and other project-specific quality control reporting utilizing the Construction Contractor Module of RMS (QCS).

  • Provide written daily QC reports to reinforce that work activities are constructed in conformance with established standards, and address non-conformance issues constructively.

  • Schedule, document results of, and maintain a log of all inspections required to conform to project contract requirements.

  • Verify that necessary inspections, approvals, and certifications by appropriate agencies are completed.

  • Assemble and forward project closeout documents.

  • Use discretion to stop work if necessary to resolve matters affecting safety, quality, or logical progress of work.

  • Advise on changes to methods and materials for use in projects.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Construction Management (CM)

  • 1+ years experience as a field or project engineer

  • Experience writing submittals and RFIs

  • Experience utilizing construction management software

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Bluebeam or similar construction management software

Work Environment

This position involves working on-site at a major construction project, overseeing various aspects of quality control and interacting with multiple stakeholders including clients, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors. The work environment requires adherence to safety regulations and quality standards. The role includes both office-based tasks and on-site inspections, with regular documentation and reporting responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $44.00
