Summary: This position is responsible to establish a plan that meets Salt requirements, ensures plan is communicated to all production supervisors, compares expected results to actual and takes corrective measures as required. Also is responsible to coordinate inbound rail shipments with logistics. This position reports to the Salt Plant Manager and works closely with logistics.

Essential Job Functions: Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Directs daily production.

  • Provide SKU items and tonnage requirements daily for production.

  • Coordinating daily shipments.

  • Determine daily rail shipments.

  • Pick orders to be loaded.

  • Coordinate with rail manager/logistics on empty railcars.

  • Coordinate requirements of the truck shipping schedules.

  • Shipment order processing.

  • Gather orders loaded during off shifts and insure proper paperwork is attached.

  • Manage open order report and late shipment report.

  • Work with customer service and sales on smooth order processing.

  • Give assistance when needed for special situations.

  • Inventory of finished goods accuracy.

  • Perform weekly counts of assigned warehouse area.

  • Correct inventory discrepancies by inventory adjustments.

  • Assist as needed with quarterly cycle counts.

  • Food grade warehouse upkeep.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of food grade, and make inventory adjustments if needed.

  • Finished goods product rotation.

  • Coordinate a plan for product rotation.

  • Follow-up and maintain plan with warehouse operators.

  • Input accurate distressed counts into E1.

  • Dispose or recycle of written off product.

  • E1 issues and training.

  • Input adjustments and inventory transfers.

  • Double-check and finalize production entries for issue and discrepancies.

  • Bulk inventory management in E1.

  • Month end requirements.

  • Assist in month end cycle counts for finished goods and raw materials.

  • Coordinates all rail movements within the site with rail manager.

  • Develops a weekly/monthly railcar forecast based on Salt forecast.

  • Maintains and communicates rail salt plant car loading statistics to determine efficiencies and opportunities.

  • Maintains and communicates production performance vs. Salt plan.

  • Develops daily/weekly production plans for Salt products.

  • Ensures ERP system is up to date and used effectively in the planning process.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS degree in a technical discipline and/or equivalent experience .

  • Practical experience demonstrating the ability to effectively establish, track and continuously improve upon production plans.

  • Must work in a team setting.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with planning experience in a heavy industrial setting.

  • Background must include the ability to work effectively with complex spreadsheets and ERP systems.
