Description School Nurses promote overall health and well-being and work to minimize absences due to
illness. We are seeking experienced nurses who can fill in when a full-time nurse is not
available.
Along with traditional school nurses, there are also nurses dedicated to caring for students with
special needs such those with feeding tubes.
A Day in the Life:
Administer prescribed medications and treatments
Assess health concerns
Communicate appropriate health information to staff, parents, and physicians
Respond to life saving situations
Assist with school health services such as vision, hearing, and dental screenings
Maintain confidentiality in compliance with district, state and federal laws
Performs other duties as assigned in order to ensure an effective, orderly, and safe
environment
Successful Candidates:
Pass a background check
Have a current TB test
Active Kansas Registered Nurse license
3+ years of experience as an RN - hospital or clinic experience preferred
Have basic computer skills
Work well with others
Can work in a noisy and sometimes crowded environment
Can spend prolonged time sitting or standing Some time is spent lifting, carrying,
pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and using finger dexterity.
