Description Do you want to make a difference in the life of a student? Our school is seeking caring,

consistent, adult to join our paraeducator team. Paraeducators work closely with teachers to

provide extra support to students in the classrooms and throughout the school environment.

This para will need to sign for students who are deaf/hard of hearing. The position will be at the

Early Childhood Center in the morning and Maize South Elementary in the afternoon.

Successful Candidates

Pass a background check

Can spend 80% of their day standing and 20% walking Time is spent lifting, carrying,

pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using finger dexterity

Maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality

A Day in the Life:

Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of

the licensed staff member for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing

classroom objectives.

Administers a variety of activities (e.g. tests, homework, make-up work, etc.)

and supports teachers in the classroom.

Assists in the implementation of instructional plans designed by the IEP team

for the purpose of presenting and reinforcing learning concepts previously

presented by a licensed staff member.

Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students and helps students

maintain personal hygiene.

Attends a variety of meetings (e.g. staff meetings, in-services, workshops,

etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and conveying information relative to job

functions.

Communicates with a variety of individuals (e.g. supervising instructional

staff, professional support personnel, etc.) for the purpose of implementing

IEP objectives and assisting in evaluating progress.

Maintains instructional materials, files, and records and ensures the

availability of items, providing written references, and recording progress

towards IEP goals and objectives.

Models desired behaviors (e.g. conversation, manners, cleaning activities,

listening, everyday interactions, etc.) and demonstrates appropriate social

behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.

Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of environments

(e.g. classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, community, etc) supporting a safe and

positive learning environment.

Provides support for classroom teachers (e.g. reinforcing instructional

objectives, implementing IEP plans, etc.) to ensure students success in

school.

Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse,

bullying, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a

positive learning environment, and adhering to State Law and school policies as a

mandated reporter.

Responds to emergency situations and resolves immediate safety concerns.

Performs other re lated duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning

of the work unit.
