Staff members will also assist in the supervision of weekend tournaments and events that take place at the sports facilities during the spring, summer, and fall months. Job Duties Provide excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department. Setup athletic fields for games and events on a daily basis, including weekends. Drag infields, rake/repair base areas, set bases & pitching mounds, paint lines, repair soccer nets, adjust soccer goals, etc. Maintain the appearance of each facility by picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, pulling weeds, cleaning score booths, fixing broken equipment, etc. Safely operate motorized utility vehicles and grooming equipment to maintain and repair fields. Supervise weekend tournaments along with occasional weekday evening games/events as needed. Weekend availability is mandatory during the tournament season. Notify, instruct, and correct customer/participant behavior that is inconsistent with athletic complex rules in a fair, timely, and polite manner. Responsible for the accurate setup of each activity taking place on a daily basis at the assigned facility. Perform minor first aid for injuries that may occur when supervising for tournaments or events. Complete all assigned facility maintenance and cleaning duties as directed by supervisor. Able to establish and maintain cooperative professional working relationships with others; individually and in a team environment. Other duties as assigned.Work performed at outdoor sports facilities: City Park; Griffith Park, CiCo Park, Eisenhower Park, and Anneberg Park/Twin Oaks Sports Complex. Work is performed outside in extreme heat and direct sun which could expose the staff to various outside atmospheric conditions; noise level and activity level will be varied. Essential Functions: Stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle, feel, speak, hear, climb stairs, push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds. (Seasonal Part-Time)RequirementsRequired Knowledge & SkillsAbility to work in a team environment and get along with coworkers and other MPRD staff members. Sports knowledge and experience is preferred. Weekend availability during the tournament season. Must possess the characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Must have a valid Driver's License.Other Information Applicants must pass a background check and drug test. Staff will be asked to work weekends and some holidays. The outdoor sports season runs from March October.
