rAbout This Role:

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a temporary Diagnostic Technician (level I or II). This position exists to assist with diagnostic specimens and to utilize selective media preparations to enhance the isolation and identification of pathogenic bacteria and to conduct antibacterial sensitivity testing. This employee will assist the laboratory supervisor and other collect faculty in ongoing research projects by isolating and selecting pure colonies of bacteria for identification and pathogenicity studies and refer to reference laboratories where appropriate. The person in this position will assist with analyzing this information and translates it into a report for our clients.

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Level I - Requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.
  • Level II - Requires an associate degree and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in veterinary diagnostic setting
  • Ability to establish and maintain records
  • Ability to work weekends and additional hours as necessary
  • Knowledge of handling pathogens
