Machine Operator Job Description
Position Title - Machine Operator 2nd shift hours of 12:00p to 10:30p Monday - Thursday.
Job Overview -
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery in a manufacturing or production environment. Operators are expected to monitor machine functions, maintain quality control, and ensure that production targets are met while adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor CNC DMG-Mori and Okuma milling and lathe machines, drill presses, grinders, etc.
Adjust machine settings and parameters as needed to ensure optimal performance and output.
Quality Responsibilities
Inspect parts for defects or deviations from specifications using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Perform routine quality checks and report any issues to the supervisor.
Ensure the final products meet company and customer quality standards.
Safety and Compliance
Follow safety procedures, guidelines, and standards to maintain a safe working environment.
Wear appropriate safety equipment (PPE) such as goggles, gloves, hearing protection, etc.
Adhere to company policies and industry regulations to ensure workplace safety and compliance.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience - previous experience in machine operation or manufacturing environment preferred, but training will be provided.
Attention to Detail - strong ability to identify defects or deviations in production.
Physical Stamina - ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform physical tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Communication – basic written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
Safety Knowledge – understanding of safety standards and ability to adhere to them.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Technical certifications or specialized training is welcomed (e.g., CNC training, etc.)
Work Environment
Manufacturing plant, warehouse, or production facility.
Exposure to noise, heavy machinery, and potential hazards; personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
May require shift work, including nights, or overtime, depending on production schedules.
