Leading marketer of casual apparel under some of the world's strongest apparel brands, including Champion and Hanes, is seeking a Merchandising Artist. The company sells decorated casualwear and Activewear produced in the company's global supply chain. The Merchandising Artist will be working with our graphic design Kansas City Image Lab team that will support multiple channels of trade with a RETAIL FOCUS and will provide unrivaled, industry-leading graphics.

Summary: The Merchandising Artist supports the Hanesbrands Inc. Retail (with a focus on Champion product) graphics team through the creation of graphics for production and various other graphic-oriented collateral. Has a strong knowledge of screen print, embroidery, applique, and other attributions. May do light design work or heavily modified base art conversations dependent on divisional needs.


+ Creates graphic art digital sketches into production-ready files for stateside and offshore vendors.

+ Communicates on a daily basis with internal and external office/manufacturing partners in relaying timeline and status of art files and samples.

+ Uses their precise sense of color and technique in approving/disapproving remote samples in a timely manner.

+ Problem-solves and produces very quickly in fast paced situations with a high degree of accuracy in a highly demanding environment.

+ Balances and prioritizes time in working with managers, project coordinators, and peers.

+ Possesses market knowledge for each sales division within our department. Stay current on design styles and trends in the market through retailing, online, and industry trade shows.

+ Gathers new techniques and ideas to share with vendors to test for R&D

+ Has a strong knowledge of screen print, embroidery, and tackle twill/applique


+ Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or equivalent industry related experience

+ 1-2 years of experience in the field is preferred

+ Mastery of Macintosh computer and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator)

+ Understanding of basic graphic art concepts such as composition, color relationships, and balance
