The successful applicant will be a generalist with a strong interest in working with a college population.Information about the Department:Kansas State University Counseling Services is a comprehensive counseling service located on the Manhattan campus. We have a staff of 21 people including licensed psychologists, licensed professional counselor, outreach specialist, psychology interns, practicum students, support staff, and other professional staff. We are an APA accredited training site for doctoral psychology interns and a practicum site for students in K-State's Marriage and Family Therapy program. The mission of the agency is to support the educational goals of students through the process of decision-making, crisis intervention, and personal skill building. Additionally, each college has a designated Diversity Point Person to provide insight and guidance.Job Description:Job duties include the following: providing short term individual, couple, and group therapy; conducting initial assessments, intakes, and crisis sessions; providing referrals and bridging care to the community as needed; providing supervision and training for doctoral interns; consulting with students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues; participating in outreach activities to the campus community; and providing service to the campus community and other tasks as requested by our Director. Occasional after hours and weekend work is required. The position reports to the Director of the Counseling Services, which is a part of the Division of Student Life.Required Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited or equivalent educational program. Qualified for psychology licensure by the State of Kansas Behavioral Sciences Board; Licensure in Kansas to be obtained within a negotiated time frame.Preferred Qualifications:One or more years of work experience in a university or college counseling center. Experience and interest in working with individuals who struggle with disordered eating, substance use, and/or group therapy.
