What You Will Do
As an Associate with Via Christi Health, you will have the opportunity to perform forensic examinations of individuals who have been sexually assaulted and provides related patient care and referrals.
Takes a medical history and account of the assault from the patient. Assesses the patient's psychological condition and performs physical examination.
Collects and preserves all evidence, collects relevant specimens and documents findings.
Provides direct nursing care of injuries and prophylactic medications. Refers to appropriate personnel/facility for further treatment as necessary.
Communicates with victims and their families regarding evidence collection, treatment recommendations and reporting to law enforcement (except in cases of mandated reporting). Provides victim advocacy and/or expert testimony in court trials.
What You Will Need
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing.
Certification specializing in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training SANE-A within 12 months and completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training SANE-P within 16 months, if applicable.
