Prairie Landworks, Inc. is currently seeking permanent hires for experienced CONCRETE SUPERINTENDENT(s). This position is based in McPherson, Kansas and has a very competitive employment package, based on experience.

The Concrete Superintendent Role is a position that allows the employee to manage the full scope of commercial and industrial concrete projects. The Concrete Superintendent will assist primarily with our self-performance paving, utility and concrete construction crews but could be exposed to process piping and plant maintenance projects as well. There is opportunity for advancement to Estimating and Project Management, contingent on the candidate’s level of commitment, attitude, and effort.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the safe completion of PLI civil, concrete, and utility projects.

  • Working efficiently and in the professional manner expected by PLI.

  • Conduct a safe jobsite.

  • Manage field construction activities, working within the project budget and project schedule.

  • Assist with project planning and selection of formwork systems.

  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings.

  • Takeoff and order materials as needed for timely completion of the work.

  • Coordinate resource needs with Labor and Equipment Superintendent and assist with employee evaluations, training, and improvement of the crews under his/her supervision.

  • Properly communicate with all project members and create an attitude of teamwork on the jobsites.

  • Responsible for time tracking of self-performance labor and equipment and cost coding of invoices and deliveries.

  • Conduct pre-pour checklists, verify accuracy of embedded items, document as-built drawings.

  • Assist Project Manager with daily reports, look ahead schedules and other information.

  • Assist with procurement of materials, jobsite deliveries, organization, and housekeeping.

  • Properly communicate with all project members and create an attitude of teamwork on the jobsites.

  • Be familiar with or qualified to operate equipment commonly found on a construction jobsite.

    Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a great attitude and be willing to work hard and set the example for his/her crew.

  • Driver’s License required; Class A CDL with Combined Vehicle and Air Brake endorsements is preferred.

  • Pass a background check, pre-employment, and random drug testing.

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a big plus.
