What You Will Achieve

You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer's Environmental, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer's employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members' timely actions and efficiency. You will be responsible for activities involved in identifying hazardous workplace conditions and take effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state Occupational Safety and Health standard provisions. You will also participate in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and any procedures that may follow a citation. You will assist in the development and implementation of short- and long-range plans and continuously improve EHS performance.

How You Will Achieve I

  • Contribute to the completion of complex projects, manage own time to meet agreed targets and develop plans for work activities on own projects within a team.

  • Understand the fundamental business drivers for Pfizer and support the organization's guidelines and policies for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).

  • Review corporate, regional, and local EHS requirements and implement applicable standards at the site level to assure full compliance with all applicable requirements.

  • Provide expert technical support to Pfizer business areas relative to Process Safety and High Hazard Industrial Safety Compliance.

  • Evaluate existing and new processes/practices, updates compliance program associated procedures, and creates plans for implementation of improvements.

  • Evaluate capital projects and other site changes identified through change control to assure compliance with safety requirements. Changes could be in Manufacturing (compounding, filling lines, visual inspection, and packaging of pharmaceuticals) as well as Maintenance, Utilities, Warehouse, and Laboratory environments.

  • Support manufacturing in safety investigations and owning Corrective Action / Preventative Action to prevent recurrence.

  • Lead applicable related tasks, initiatives, training, and services that adhere to Pfizer Global Environment, Health & Safety Standards, state, and federal regulatory compliance.

  • Provide subject matter expert input to regulatory inspections and internal audits.

  • Conduct routine safety inspections.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance and data integrity requirements.

  • Support the effective integration of EHS into the day-to-day management and meeting structures within the functional area.

  • Become familiar with operational activities, identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate with local safety champions/ management to bring forward improvement projects.

  • Assist in the completion of evaluations for new sites, new projects and equipment, including change management for minor projects.

  • Investigate incidents and complaints of colleagues regarding safety, health, ergonomics, organizational environment, etc.

  • Develop and publish Environmental Health and Safety communications, as necessary.

  • Maintain fire safety precautions and support/develop emergency preparedness scenarios and training.

  • Manage audits of the sites' systems and processes and implement effective EHS cultural improvement and engagement activities.

  • Review, identify, develop, and deliver EHS related training programs.

  • Manage others in performance of the above tasks.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 10+ years of relevant experience;

  • OR an Associate's degree with eight years of experience;

  • OR a Bachelor's degree with at least 5+ years of experience;

  • OR a Master's degree with more than three years of experience;

  • OR a Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience.

  • Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project Management, Power Point and Teams).

  • Extensive experience in OSHA safety programs and the application of regulations and industrials codes (IBC, NFPA, NEC, etc.) to operations.

  • Experience in assessing EHS risks, developing and implementing proactive controls (engineering, behavioral, administrative, etc.) and strategies to minimize risks and process deviations.

  • Detailed expertise in risk management (assessment and implementation of risk mitigation strategies) for process and machine safety.

  • Practical knowledge and experience in performing Process Hazard Analysis (HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, What-If, etc.).

  • Proven experience of working in the field with area owners to identify and implement the best solutions.

  • Proven experience effectively communicating and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities.

  • Broad technical and regulatory experience who can effectively work with senior management, across multiple disciplines, in a matrixed organization.

  • Successful in the use of recognized analysis tools to perform risk assessments, investigations, program auditing that result in identifying improvements.

  • Ability to manage projects, is process minded, and demonstrates the ability to build and execute action plans to ensure alignment in pursuit of organizational deliverables.

  • Demonstrates initiative, leadership, has excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence and engage with multiple levels of the organization and the proven ability to lead cross functional teams is required.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in working in a Chemical, Petrochemical or Pharmaceutical environment.

  • Certification in ISO-based Management Systems.

  • CPSP, PHA, CSP or other EHS-related professional certification.

  • Experience in Project Management and Lean Concepts (Green Belt / Deming principles).

  • Experience leading teams with established results.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to stand or walk for periods of 8 hours or more.

• Sit for extended periods.

• Must be able to perform complex tasks, handle multiple priorities, and perform exceptionally under high stress conditions.

• Ability to adhere to safe work practices and procedures such as aseptic gowning.

• Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.

• Ability to work on teams.

• Ability to manage others.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

First shift, standard 8-5 with expectation that additional hours are worked as needed to keep up with deliverables. Occasional non-standard shift work will be required to support a 24/7 operational schedule.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
