ManpowerGroup Machinist 2nd & 3rd Shifts in McPherson, Kansas

Work You'll Do: MUST TRAIN IN THE MORNING 8AM-4PM

  • Verify correct product using job traveler.

  • Set-up and operate a variety of machinery (CNC, Grinder, Lathe, Mill and Saw) to blueprint specifications.

  • Monitor machine performance and perform preventative maintenance to assure continuity of production.

  • Monitor and ensure all fluid levels are maintained on all equipment.

  • Monitor inventory levels and report low levels and discrepancies to supervisor.

  • Must use precision measuring tools specific to job.

  • Must use job specific hand tools.

  • Read part drawing with sectional views.

  • Lift, position, and transport work piece with a hoist.

  • Must accurately record labor hours into ERP system.

  • Work independently; assist and train less experienced machinists.

  • Maintain plant standards in areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork, and attendance.

  • Recommend improvements for area product and processes.

  • Interact professionally when interacting with customers and employees.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED along with Technical School Certificate is preferred.

  • 1+ years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Math Skills - basic math skills required, advanced preferred; general computer skills; knowledge and understanding of various measuring devices.

  • Problem Solving - identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.

  • Written communication - must be able to complete required paperwork and provide information needed by subsequent shift workers, coworkers, and supervisors.

  • Reading - read and understand written instructions, blueprints, job travelers, etc.

  • Listening - understand and retain oral job-related information and instructions received from coworkers and supervisors.  Listen for alarms and monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning.

  • Seeing - visually monitor machine to ensure proper mechanics are maintained and identify problems; specifically paying attention to detail.

  • Equipment - load, unload, move, stack and stage product and materials using forklift; use of overhead crane; maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.  Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

  • Ability to demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.

  • Basic Computer skills
