The McPherson Police Department is seeking highly motivated people, with a desire to serve our community as full-time Police Patrol Officers. Serving as Police Patrol Officer is challenging but will provide you with many opportunities for professional growth. The McPherson Police Department has a wide range of opportunities for advancement and specialization within the Patrol, Operations, and Administrations Bureaus to serve, including Investigations, Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Bike Patrol, Honor/Color Guard Team, Critical Incident Stress Management/Peer Support Team, Firearms Instruction, Defensive Tactics Instruction, D.A.R.E. Officer, School Resource Officer, and Social Media Team.
The City of McPherson is centrally located in the United States and within the State of Kansas, at the intersection of I-135 and US-56. Those selected to fill open positions will be enforcing local, state, and federal laws, as well as investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic collisions, and assisting the public. State certified officers are preferred, however basic Law Enforcement Academy Training (KLETC) will be provided. Included is a generous benefits package, paid holidays, sick, and vacation time. Requirements:The State of Kansas requires a sworn officer to bea U.S. Citizen, 21 years, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. We prefer applicants with a college degree. Applicants must have a clean criminal record, and vision correctable to 20/20. Applicant must pass a written test, physical agility test, background investigation, oral interview, and additional conditional job testing. Work schedule requires weekends, holidays, rotating shift work, overtime, and court appearances. Residency within 35 miles of the McPherson City Limits must be established within six months of hire.
