The Role - What’s the job?
The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient operations of the McPherson Injection Molding plant. With direct responsibility for 60% of the hourly workforce, this position substantially impacts the success of the business. Manufacturing targets are achieved through rigorous scenario planning, creative problem-solving, and fostering and engaged and reliable workforce.
Leadership: Influences cross-functional teams to achieve safety, quality, service, and cost targets. Creates a culture of execution through employee engagement, frontline solutions and buy-in for effective change.
Safety: Develops and cultivates a team-oriented “working safely” culture throughout the plant with a focus on zero injuries, work-related health conditions, and/or spills. Is responsible to ensure employees and operations are in compliance with all EHS standards.
Technical Management & Continuous Improvement: Responsible for operational excellence in critical manufacturing key performance indicators including OEE, Yield, Rate, and plant productivity.
Quality: Manages and cultivates a team with an unrelenting commitment to quality, ensuring compliance with all quality standards. Provides leadership for technical and quality teams for consensus to resolve quality issues, understanding and teaching the impact that decisions have on parts quality.
The objective is to achieve a workplace that is positive, safe, diverse, and inclusive for employees and the community, and to foster continuous development of employees and teams to achieve performance excellence.
Travel up to 5% for meetings, training, and collaboration with other Saint-Gobain sites and businesses.
Typical working hours are Monday-Friday, Day Shift, with some after-hours accessibility.
Requirements
What do you bring?
Education – Bachelor’s degree preferred with degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or similar field.
6-8 years progressive work experience in a manufacturing environment.
3-5 years of experience in technical operations, with increasing levels of responsibility and autonomy.
Ability to troubleshoot basic to intermediate technical issues; good quantitative/analytical skills; critical and independent thinking.
Understanding of plastic materials, processing, and equipment knowledge.
Good change management skills; some project management experience.
Analytical skills to assess current operations and plan future needs, both budgetary and capacity.
Good coaching skills; peer, up-line, direct, and indirect reports.
Ability to assess and develop people, hold individuals and team accountable, in accordance with department and individual objectives, resulting in a strong safety, environmental, employee relations, and operational performance.
