Position Description

Job Summary

GENERAL FUNCTION State the intent and objective of the position.

The Shift Expeditor is responsible for providing leadership and flexibility on the shift for the support functions of the Supply Chain, Quality, and the Mii/Factory Plus reconciliation process. Duties will include shift safety, modification to the shift schedule as needed, and troubleshooting/coordinating all shift issues (with the understanding of when to escalate to functional leaders). The Shift Expeditor will be a Mii/Factory Plus super-user and will be responsible for providing support, training, and reconciling discrepancies in production reporting and warehousing during the shift. The Shift Expeditor must be customer-focused, computer-literate, and able to multi-task throughout the shift.

EHS

  • Demonstrates active preventive engagement in EHS through performing STOP Observations and safety/environmental reporting

  • Ensures a safe work environment in the plant

  • Identifies, eliminates, and/or communicates any unsafe conditions by writing CARs and PARs

  • Complies with all PPE requirements

  • Complies with all CertainTeed Siding and EHS policies/standards

  • Will support and mentor other employees in a manner that promotes safety and complies with OSHA and other company standards

  • Participates in cross-functional risk assessments and management of change hand-off on the floor

Supply Chain, Quality, and Production

  • Facilitates and executes the timely and accurate delivery of materials to the production lines

  • Completes cycle counts of finished goods, raw materials, or stockroom as needed

  • Coordinates the timely troubleshooting of warehouse and RF systems

  • Is trained to be the backup Quality Inspector as needed. Trained to run X-rite, QC Calc, and Nitrogen Analyzer

  • Audits and ensures accuracy of Mii/Factory Plus throughout the shift

  • Provides break coverage for Production, Supply Chain, and Quality as needed

  • Assists in box erection as needed

  • Prints all labels for the shifts

  • Livelink – basic user

  • Assists Production in grinding when needed; must be able to operate the grinding cell and clean out color grinders

  • Assists with month end cycle counting for raw materials and stockroom

  • Can safely, accurately, and efficiently unload rail cars and bulk trucks and assist with LTL, UPS, and equipment deliveries

  • Assists in daily tie-outs with Operations Supervisor

  • Actively participates in a minimum of one (1) team

  • Is proactive in recommending and implementing solutions and corrective actions

  • Drafts training materials

  • Conducts small group or 1:1 training

  • Participates in cross-functional assessment teams

  • Updates materials with practical and relevant changes

Additional Description

PROBLEM-SOLVING Briefly describe the nature of the decision-making or problem-solving which is part of this position. Include the extent to which established practices, rules, regulations, manuals, counsel/advice, and independent thinking govern this position.

This position is responsible for understanding general supply chain material flow – from the silos to finished goods, including raw materials, finished goods, and equipment. Will translate production schedules into material flow shift plans. Understands general inventory control and will process conforming and non-conforming materials. Will be Quality trained and able to complete all inspections and testing. Will be able to support Production, Quality, and Supply Chain as needed with break coverage.

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Up to 5 years of general manufacturing, warehouse, or equivalent experience

  • Forklift certification or experience preferred

  • Works well independently and proactively

  • Comfortable coaching frontline in a developmental manner

  • Must be able to shift priorities easily throughout the day (flexible)

  • Must be able to handle the stress that is involved in meeting deadlines

  • Team player

  • Planning shift workload (time management)

  • Good initiative, self-motivated to move from task to task (multi-tasking)

  • Intermediate analytical, project management, and organization skills
