We are honored to be constructing our newest shingle manufacturing facility in Newton KS and will hire our initial plant leadership team in 2024. Due to our investment in training and the development of employees, you will have the opportunity to travel to our other locations, engage with peers, hire the remainder of the plant staff and participate in the design and construction of the facility. Summary

GAF is searching for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support a greenfield asphalt shingle manufacturing plant in Newton KS. During plant construction and commissioning, the HRBP will work with other departments to hire all plant staff.

After commissioning, the HRBP will support the plant and plant employees. The successful candidate must be familiar with the management of employee relations, administration of employee programs, change management, employee engagement strategy, leadership development, organizational design, performance management, HR laws and regulations, HR policy management. Serves as a consultant to management for positive employee relations and engagement; acts as an employee champion and change agent. The HRBP is a dynamic leader, who always acts with integrity and discretion to ensure your role as a trusted advisor.

Essential Duties

  • Design and implement people solutions to address enterprise and functional strategies

  • Facilitate conflict resolution and provide coaching and feedback to employees, supervisors and managers

  • Manage the strategic workforce planning efforts ensuring the right roles are incorporated to shape the future

  • Partner with the plant management team to facilitate employee engagement, focus groups and develop meaningful action plans for improvement

  • Manage all employee relations activities within the site according to established guidelines, sound administrative practices and in accordance with the organization's mission, values, and goals

  • Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with federal, state and local labor and employment laws

  • Strategically contribute to the business objectives by helping plant leaders identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures and processes

  • Provide expert advice and coaching where appropriate. Ensure a strong leadership and coaching culture throughout the organization

  • Support plant departments on all aspects of human resources, including organizational and employee development

  • Research and develop/recommend solutions and process improvements on HR related projects, processes and policies aligned to GAF strategy, culture and business practices

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to facilitate/coordinate hourly and salaried interviews, conduct onboarding and new hire orientations

  • Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR plan and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience in HR management

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, business or related field

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • Masters’ degree in HR, Leadership, OD, Org. Behavior or MBA preferred

  • CIPD, PHR, or SPHR or other HR certification preferred

  • Proven organizational, planning, project management, and prioritization skills to ensure proper and timely completion of projects

  • Advanced experience partnering with stakeholders at all levels

  • Willingness to respond to after hour emergencies including weekends and holidays

  • Ability to meet extensive travel requirements in first 1-2 years for the opportunity to visit and train at existing GAF locations

  • Ability to communicate, both written, and orally, in English is required

  • Experience with Google Suite

  • Experience in HR partnering with both the senior leadership team and hourly workforces

  • Experience in HR law, compliance, and regulations

  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably Workday

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional demeanor
