Garmin Optical Assembly Technician in Olathe Building 5, Kansas

Our electronics technicians apply electronic theory, electrical testing procedures and related knowledge to repair and newly overhaul products returned by Garmin customers. Attention to detail, ability to work with others and complex thinking is a must if you want to be a part of this first-class team.We are looking for a full-time Optical Assembly Technician for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role you will be responsible for assembling and aligning lens sub-assemblies utilizing optical alignment telescopes and product specific tooling. Other essential functions include:Complete final assembly of productWork in a clean room environment following all cleanliness protocolsPerform all assembly, alignment, calibration and tests in accordance with Process Engineering work instructionsStrict attention to detailTroubleshoot assembly issues and communicate problems with Process EngineeringRecommend improvements in design and processAnalyze and interpret test dataRecord results as required by Process Engineering Qualified candidates possess an Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, or related Military training or a minimum of 80 hours towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a substantially related field. Other requirements include: Demonstrate strong and effective verbal and written communication skillsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with othersMust possess the ability to lift up to 50 pounds while using safe lifting techniques and standing for an entire shiftExperience in assembly of precision optical components, previous work in a clean room, and classes in Physics and Optics are highly preferred!Our benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life.
