Garmin Cost Engineer 2 in Olathe, Kansas

These associates do everything from delivering packages and purchasing supplies to assembling aviation panel mounts and ensuring our large shipments of goods are exported according to applicable international laws. If you’re ready to work – and have fun, too – come, help us put the pieces together!\n\n\nWe are looking for a full time Cost Engineer 2 at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will be responsible for partnering with Engineering, Operations, Sourcing and Supply Chain to achieve the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and market leading Product Technology, Quality, Reliability and Cost of components/parts. Other essential functions include:\n\n

    \n\t\n\tCommunicate, suggest options and coordinate with mutliple facilities to assist in the component selection \n\t\n\t\n\tAlign the Product Life-Cycle with the Suppliers' Technology Roadmaps to insure supply\n\t\n\t\n\tDrive cost reductions throughout the Product Life-Cycle from design to end-of-life\n\t\n\t\n\tIdentify process/product efficiences that will reduce overall costs\n\t\n\t\n\tOffer suggestions in price benchmarking\n\t\n\t\n\tSupport and add value to strategic sourcing efforts for various commodites and services within a matrix organization with emphasis on supporting electronic and electro-mechanical commodities\n\t\n\t\n\tCollaborate with Sourcing and add value related to the creation of requests for information, requests for proposals, and requests for quotations and review responses\n\t\n\t\n\tSupport strategic process improvements, plans of continuous improvement and lean initiatives\n\t\n\t\n\tDrive supplier performance and metrics to achieve world-class levels in supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service (QCDS) \n\t\n\t\n\tPerform other job-related duties as assigned\n\t\n\n\nDue to the amount of resources and expense exhausted in training for this position, a minimum of one year from the start of this position will be required before an associate is eligible for a job transfer. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree plus a minimum of 2 years directly demonstrated experience in Cost Engineering, Component Engineering or related field. Other required skills include:\n\n
