Can you hack it? We’re looking for an intern with an understanding of industry-trusted infrastructure and development penetration tools to break into our computer systems, products and software to find possible exploits. This intern will learn how to complete penetration testing assessment reports and work with subject matter experts to minimize our risks, as well as comfortably execute pre-determined tests or design your own. We are looking for a Cyber-Security Threat Engineer Intern for our office in greater Kansas City. In this role you will be responsible for learning and conducting basic security audits from both a logical and theoretical standpoint and a technical and hands-on standpoint. Other essential functions include:

  • \n

Fundamental understanding with industry trusted infrastructure and development penetration tools.

\n

  • \n

Fundamental understanding with security, infrastructure, software development, and application technologies.

\n

  • \n

Learn / gain proficiency with standard methods of reconnaissance, information gathering including network analysis, web application analysis, database analysis

\n

  • \n

Learn / gain proficiency with various methods of threat modeling and vulnerability assessment including vulnerability scanners, password crackers, network protocol attacks

\n

  • \n

Strong desire to gain experience of common penetration tools toward a deeper understanding of the technology that is needed to reveal vulnerabilities that standard tool proficiency does not.

\n

  • \n

Driven to learn or gain experience with device hacking / reverse engineering of products and devices

\n

Qualified candidates are Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description and hold cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Other requirements include:

  • Basic understanding of Vulnerability Scanning and Penetration Testing tools (such as Nessus, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Wireshark or other)

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must possess relevant experience and/or training

  • Must possess relevant education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects he/she will develop

Excellent academics including a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 and previous experience working in a team environment is highly preferred!
