Garmin EMC Manager in Olathe, Kansas

In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to the development and implementation of EMC (Electromagnetic Compliance), reliability and calibration methods and tools to meet business and compliance needs. \n\nIn this role, your key essential functions will be:\n\n\n\tBuild, develop and maintain a compliant EMC captive lab to meet evolving business and product needs.\n\t\n\t\tMeet relavent ISO, IEC, FCC, and similar regulatory standards for lab operations.\n\t\tEnsure appropriate use of resources to support business timelines.\n\t\tDevelop technical and process capability of lab associates.\n\t\tAlign requirements with product and compliance teams while maintaining operational independence. \n\t\n\t\n\tManage a team of engineers and technicians responsible for driving activities such as:\n\t\n\t\tIdentification and implementation of process improvements as they relate to the quality and delivery of testing activities\n\t\tEffective scheduling, prioritization, and throughput of testing activities\n\t\tCreation, review and modification of test methods, processes, and work instructions\n\t\tMaintaining a high level of integrity and preservation of test records\n\t\n\t\n\tDevelop and maintain a positive tone and culture for the team environment Partner across Garmin areas to align test methods and systems as well as ensure repeatability of results\n\tLeverage advanced understanding and expertise of project management skills including understanding and communicating test plan scope, decisions, and deliverables \n\tEnsure appropriate tools and processes are in place to support a variety of test solutions and quality processes\n\tLead efforts to fulfill the timely documentation of test plan scope [i.e. methodology, requirements (internal, external, regulatory)], verification and validation expectations, as well as effective resource allocation\n\tChampion solutions to support evolving business needs by providing strategic plans with the appropriate amount of technical information along with options for success.\n\tSupport the evaluation, design and fabrication of test fixtures and systems\n\tDemonstrate advanced communication skills to ensure team members and customers are appropriately informed of test status\n\tIdentify and resolve conflicts by striking a balance between the needs of customers and resources available\n\tTraining, supporting, and mentoring associates to ensure a capable, competent, and high-performance team\n\tPartner with Human Resources to manage hiring and associate relations fairly and consistently\n\tExemplifies Garmin’s Mission Statement, Vision, Values and Strategies and proactively works to improve Garmin’s image and culture\n\tPerform other work-related duties as assigned\n\tInterview, hire, and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; and conduct annual performance evaluations with associates\n Qualified candidates will possess the following education, experience and skills: \n\n\n\tBachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related engineering discipline \n\tExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) \n\tMust possess demonstrated previous technical leadership \n\tDemonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointMust possess a high level of interpersonal skills to work across functional and organizational lines\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills\n\tMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others\n\tMust be detail oriented, possess a positive attitude, and have excellent time management and follow-up skills \n\tAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and changing environment while meeting deadlines\n\tDemonstrates excellent time management and follow-up skills \n\tMust demonstrate superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality\n\n\nCandidates with the following desirable qualifications are preferred:\n\n\n\tMaster’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Reliability, Industrial or related engineering discipline \n\tPrevious management experience in an EMC lab, environmental test lab, reliability, engineering, or operations related environment \n\tPrevious EMC Engineering experience\n\tProficient knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100, IATF16949, ISO45001Previous Electronics Technician or Test Technician experience\n\n\nOur benefits, designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life, keep us competitive and allow our associates to make their own decisions about their well-being and future.
